With the help of Copilot, it’s now even easier to get your unstructured data into Dynamics 365, with the help of intelligent copying and pasting.
New information can come from many sources such as emails, website form submissions and chat conversations, and you may want to use some this information to create new Dynamics 365 records. Traditionally, this would have involved manual entry: copying/typing the data into each field or if the data is from a regular source and in a consistent format, an integration constructed. However, with smart paste, there’s now a simpler way of getting this ad hoc data into Dynamics 365.
How do I use smart paste?
Simply copy the content you want to turn into a Dynamics 365 record to your clipboard (Ctrl & C is the keyboard shortcut) and on any Dynamics 365 form, simply use the clipboard paste shortcut of Ctrl & V (or use the Smart paste button in the command bar) and Copilot will analyse the content of your data, with a notification appearing in the upper-right:
And once the process has completed, Copilot will then fill in the form fields which it has deemed appropriate for the content you have submitted:
If you are happy with the results, simply click Accept all suggestions in the upper right and the form will populate with the data from your copied content, which you can then edit before saving.
How do I enable Smart paste?
If you do not see the smart paste functionality in a particular environment, you may need to enable it. This can be done via the Power Platform Admin Center.
- Visit https://admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com/
- Find the environment for which you want to enable smart paste
- In Settings>Features, scroll down to
